Copybook The Gundaroo/Sutton Shale

In August, 2019, a group of artists mainly from the ANU School of Art and Design exhibited artwork at the School in response to Geoscience Australia’s collection of rocks, minerals, crystals and fossils. I was one of those artists. My focus was on the intellectual property pertaining to the collection. I unearthed the location of two rock repositories nearby in New South Wales: a library of shale near Gundaroo; and volumes of sedimentary material in an archive in the Murrum-Sutton region. I withdrew a copybook from each place. I took the liberty to photographically record some pages before returning the documents. I exhibited two photographic works. The exhibition was titled, GEO: Art of the Collection, and it was instigated and jointly curated by contributing artist, Ruth Waller.

The images below are a selection from the copybook pages I recorded.
